Entry for ~DragonScholar's Evil and Company at Seventh Sanctum.

Generators used;
Evil Name Generator
Monster Name Generator
Goblin Namer

Character Name: Bloodhunt the Cunning.
Character Race: Gnoll.
Character Class: Mystic.

Minion Name: Zan
Minion Type: Shrine Gremlin

I've been using Seventh Sanctum generators for various purposes since I first discovered the site a few years ago. When I saw that they had launched their latest contest, Evil and Company, I thought I'd give it a try and see how it goes. =P

The Evil Name Generator for the main villain, and the Monster Name Generator for the minion, along with their Goblin Name Generator to give the minion a name of it's own.
These were all the generators I ended up using to bring forth an idea of how this was going to be.
The Evil Name Generator produced the result "Bloodhunt the Cunning", the Monster Generator produced "Shrine Gremlin" and the Goblin Name Generator produced "Zan".

Time to go to work with what I had. :nod:

I determined pretty early that Bloodhunt was going to be a Gnoll, and the Cunning title gave me the idea of making him a mystic. After a lot of ideas and sketching, I ended up with a hunch-backed anthro hyena with with a dark robe and a feather-decorated cowl. To give a bit more of a gloomy sense, I gave him a walking stick with a lantern hanging from it.

As for his minion, it took me way longer.
I looked at various pictures and illustrations of gremlins and imps in hope of finding inspiration for a decent minion.
After about a dozen different versions of the same guy, I settled for a sly imp-like creature with a pine green coat of fur and a tail with an oddly shaped tip. Along with all this, I randomly landed on the decision making the feet digitigrade.
The final touch to this minion was some form of headwear, which ended up as a goblet with sapphire gems.

And just for the heck of it, here's a little background history for the duo. ;)
Gnolls. They'd make a formidable army, if they could just stop the fighting between each other.
In a cold and dangerous wilderness, where the vile and wicked were the dominant. In the midst of it all, a tribe of Gnolls known as the Bonehides made their residence in a rapidly expanding village made of small tents and huts.
Led by the bold Chieftain Thuror, the Bonehide Gnolls were feared for their frequent raids on settlements both in and beyond the wilderness they called home. Any traveler willing to dare the wilds, was rarely heard from again, and those that made it out told tales of a vicious and cold-blooded kin.
Their strength was not in their numbers, but in the practices of their mystics; through shamanistic rituals, the mystics fueled the warriors of the Bonehide tribe with magic that could grant them heightened senses and a lust to kill.
One mystic in particular; Bloodhunt the Cunning, was revered among the tribesmen for his shamanistic prowess. Unlike most of the sages and mystics, Bloodhunt kept a minion; a small, sly and devious Shrine Gremlin named Zan, with a love for objects that were either blank or shiny.
Bloodhunt found the gremlin years earlier, during the raid of a temple built to worship dark deities, and - through the means of dark magic - enslaved the creature to act as his minion.
Ever since, Bloodhunt lured the Shrine Gremlin into revealing the secrets taught at the old temple in exchange for blank objects. Needless to say, the mystic eventually had quite a grasp of the dark arts, and a newfound prowess in the art of necromancy.
For this, he was banished from the Bonehide tribe and forced to abandon the wilderness. Stories has it, that before he left, Bloodhunt left a curse upon the tribe with the purpose of corrupting their minds and leave them in a wretched, mindless state, thus marking the end of the Bonehides brutal raids.
As for Bloodhunt the Cunning, he continued to wander the dark wilderness with the Shrine Gremlin at his side.

Wow, you've really put a lot of work into this! Definitely the best one I've seen so far.

And... I don't know why, but Bloodhunt reminds me of a tonberry. ^^;

I can see where you find the likeness; both are hunchbacked, robed and with a lantern. =P

I love the way you colored this and I love the character design. In my opinion they look like something from a comic book. =) Very nice.

Thanks. :bucktooth:

It was a bit of my aim to create a duo with an appearance beyond the average 'cartoonish' style, but keep a certain similarity to an illustration you might find in a comic book/kid's fantasy story.
